I was cleaning (well really moving stuff around- you still have to check exp. dates on the food) the freezer a couple of weeks ago...And I found a single steak in there. It was from your final dinner while you were still with us. Brandon had gone off to work, and you had dinner before you left for the theater. I was just thinking- we don't eat steak at home anymore. Ronnie was supposed to pick up steak for Christmas Dinner last night- he forgot and by the time he remembered ( I reminded him loudly) , all the stores were closed for the holiday. All of this made me think of you, and how lucky I was (and unlucky in other ways) to spend your final dinner, movement and breath on this earth with you. I don't have many memories to write about, but I do have your final moments- good and bad, to always remind me of you!

Love, Val

Kris was always there to help my Mother & Father any time they needed him. He bought a universal remote for my Dad, and wouldn't accept payment. Kris was in St. George last year for Christmas, and this one has been especially sad without him. We have known him since he was a small child. I remember when he was about 8 years old. He knelt on the carpet, and a needle went into his knee. He was so brave about it, never even cried. We had to wait for his parents to get home from SLC before the Dugway Clinic would remove the needle. The entire Chesley & Austin families miss Kris more than words can say! He was such a generous and caring young man! Love, Kathy

Dear Kris,

I was just thinking about something funny. Do you remember when Ronnie came to Mena to help me and you move our furniture back to Maryland? We didn't leave Mena until around 1 in the afternoon. When Ronnie finally got on the road he didn't want to stop. And when I say he didn't want to stop I mean it! You and I were about to die waiting to use the bathroom. He only stopped for gas so we only got to use the bathroom then. But we finally got pretty smart. Didn't we? We finally figured out if he drank a 40 oz. drink that we would get to stop more offen! So when we got gas we would say "Ronnie do you want a drink?"...he'd say yes and we asked him what size and he'd say a large one. I remember when we discovered those big 40 oz. drinks! It worked Kris...we got to stop more offen!

This memory I have about Kris is one alot of people might not know about Kris. It was Thanksgiving and I was laid up with my ankle. He came home one day and came up to my room carrying a beautiful fall flower arrangement. I said where did you get those? He said I made them. I said now come on tell me where you bought them! He repeated I made them. Wow was I surprised! They were beautiful! He said the teacher gave them a bunch of supplies and said arrange them and that is what he'd done. He had a way with flowers. I'll bet some of you didn't know that! He also won a first place ribbon at the fair for his rose arrangement. Wow he was talented!

I was thinking back to when I broke my ankle and Ashley and Dani had a special cheerleading competition where they were competing individiually and I couldn't drive them there. Kristofer was a new driver but he drove us all down to Virginia. He did a great job considering Dad and I kept back seat driving all the way! Sorry Kris we knew you were doing your best! He drove very safely.

Kris...I was just looking at pictures of us last Christmas...you were so happy.... except when I woke you up at 3:00 am... knowing there was nothing in it for you...Thanks... I'll never forget Lindsay's homemade gift to you....A ONE WAY TICKET HOME!!!!!!! I'm glad you were able to laugh at it...cause I wasn't...Here I thought she had finally started liking you enough to make you a nice card.... I thought wrong.... It's not going to be the same thats for sure...Even Lindsay said she misses you a "tiny bit" the other day.... We all do...Love you Kris.... I hope you have a wonderful Christmas this year. I know it will probably be the best for you....Love you...Amy

Speaking of cars... Our Explorer... Man it sounded so bad at the end. I just knew something was going to fall out of it. Kris always said it would be okay...And I guess it was until he sold it...hehe...He kept that thing sooo shiny and clean. It detailed it just about everyday. I guess cause he was paying for it he thought he'd better keep it nice. Kris loved working at Fabulous Freddy' Car Detail Shop. He was good at what he did. He def. took pride in his work. That's why I think it's so cool that the man who got one of his organs loved to work on old cars...just like Kris did.... Love you Buddy!!!!

Katrina do you remember when you gave Kris you litlle Focus? I couldn't believe how hard he drove that car. He was grateful but thought it wasn't a cool car for a teenage boy to be driving. I was so frustrated with him too. He literally drove that car to death. I thought to my self how crazy he was for not taking better care of it after all it was FREE! Oh well it's just a silly memorie now.
